Atheism 101

I went to a positive hardcore benefit gig this past weekend, and it was fucking awesome. I had an excellent time, although there was a distinct lack of moshing, which I hate, also, some of the bands I did not like, but everyone played well, some money was raised for people who have been made homeless by the flooding and what not, that occured mostly in eastern Hungary, and I got shitfaced.
But what I realized in doing all of this is that, indeed, only 2% of the world are atheists, and even people who do not identify themselves as theists have crazy, mystical and weird beliefs about their place in the world. It is not whether or not you have beliefs that I care about, but how much people just dont care about proving or disproving them, that they just believe what they want to believe without so much as a second thought, without proof, without disproof, just on a "hey, that sounds good" basis. That's okay too, but let us not make any mistake about it, if you choose to do this, then you are being intellectually dishonest. And if you are like this, then don't ever argue with anything anyone ever says, because if people have to make this exception for you, then you have to make it for all people.
But aside from that, check this shit out. This is an aweosme TV show, hosted by atheists and talking about atheism. I just wanted to reference them and mention how awesome they are, especially doing this out of Texas, and having the balls to make it public access. They get some crazy phonecalls, most of the show is spent with answering calls.
I would embed it if I could, but this shit won't let me. Sadness engulfs my heart. I am gonna talk about some of the thing sthat are mentioned on this show, because I have beens aying these things, although nowhere near as eloquently as these fine folks are able to, because I lose patience and say things I regret way too fucking often (lookin at you, Fern!). Just to clarify a few things for any of you theistic grind freaks, and there are a few of you.
First and foremost, atheism does not state anything, it is not an ideology, it is not a positive statement about anything whatsoever!!!!!! This is important!!! An atheist does NOT say that there is no God, simply that as of right now, there is no reason to believe in one. Atheism is a response to theistic claims, saying they are unfounded. There is no positive content within atheism, "it" is not asserting anything at all. Once you have understood this, the next claim I will make will be self-explanatory.
As a theist, you cannot say to an atheist 'prove that God does not exist'. That simply makes no fucking sense. To go up to someone who is not saying anything, and tell them to prove it is ridiculous. As a theist you are making a positive claim, that there is something that we are not seeing, and as such the burden of proof is on you, you have to say what your evidence is. For any sane human being, you do no believe something until it is proven true. That is how any rational being makes decisions.
The third thing I want to mention is something I picked up from the show today, labeled the 3 pillars of apologism. These are deception, logical fallacies and mental or emotional manipulation. A lot of the times theists will try to intentionally or through ignorance deceive you with an arguement that sounds good, but is not sound. A logical fallacy, the second pillar, is an arguement that is set up on true claims, but is false, because it has bad reasoning. These laws of logic are universal laws, and they make sense because they make sense. They can be verified by anyone in any circumstance anywhere, on any planet. They always hold. Fallacies are always false, in any circumstance, just because they are. Look 'em up, they are fun. And when someone cannot win, they try to make you feel with them. This is the worst of all. Aside from not being any sort of proof for anything it is super manipulative.

The grind is some Colombian death-grind, a genre I love. This is Ancient Necropsy, 2nd album, the best in my opinion, entitled Deformed Kings Mummification. Just the title alone should suggest what kinda music this is. Also, this is a one man band, and I can really appreciate the fact that he can play all of those fucking instruments to this level. He is good, man. Also, I just love the way Colombians write death-grind, its fucking fast, and sloppy a bit too, rough around the edges, with all sorts of cool shit thrown in. Mostly blast beats. Impressive ones.
